MKU - Poised to Meet Requirements of the Indian Services with State-of-the-Art Solutions

MKU is equipped to deliver Solutions for up-coming RFI's in Electro-Optics, Arms, Ammunition, Rifles and Protection. MKU has worked relentlessly to add a large gamut of Force Multiplier Solutions that will not only enhance the Night-Fighting capabilities and Lethality, but also provide a wider shield of Protection to the Soldiers and Platforms.

At Defexpo 2018, MKU is showcasing State-of-the-Art Solutions for Indian Army, Navy, Coast Guard and other Services for upcoming requirements. Looking at the opportunities of more than Rs.12,000 crore in the Defence and Homeland Security domain being serviced by MKU, they remain positive and bullish towards the Indian market. MKU has signed an MoU with the U.P. Government for an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in the newly announced Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor by Prime Minister Modi in February, 2018. Located in the heart of the Corridor, MKU is looking at several opportunities from MoD and MHA based on expected RFIs'.

In addition to the Protection Solutions for Body and Platforms, MKU is also showcasing its newly developed IDDM Range of Electro-Optic Systems at Defexpo 2018. These include various Thermal Imaging Devices, Night Vision Devices, Laser Range Finders and Day EO Devices.

‘Make-in-India’ has raised a lot of interest amongst the international Defence Manufacturers. Leading Foreign OEMs are forging alliances with MKU to offer a vast array of products, which includes Electro-Optics, Rifles and Remote Controlled Weapon Systems, to name a few.

Keeping in mind the special requirements of the Indian Forces for its upcoming Vehicle Programmes, MKU will also showcase Blast Protection Solutions, along with special materials to defend Land Systems from RPG's. Also on display will be MoST (Modular SchutzTechnik) Range of Light-Weight Armour for Airborne Platforms.

Helicopter Armouring: Safety & Efficiency
Helicopters, with changing combat scenarios have continually evolved from their role of participation in Military Operations to much diversified Counter-Insurgency & Disaster Control tasks. Helicopters have become the workhorses for the Militaries as they haul supplies and troops to and from Combat Zones to safety. As the pilots fly their Helicopters into the Combat Zones, they and their mighty machines are prone to attacks through Armed fire from enemy forces and militants.

For these sophisticated Aircraft, the threat is not just from small arms, but from Medium and Heavy Calibre Rifles, Machine Guns and Anti-Aircraft Guns. The most vulnerable parts of the Helicopter are the underbelly, Cockpit and the Engine that are most susceptible to Ground-Fire attacks. Therefore, not only is it crucial to make the Helicopters more ballistically tolerant, but more importantly, protect the pilots and aircrew with Ballistic Body Armour Solutions.

HELICOPTER ARMOURING
MKU offers wide range of Protection Solutions for Fixed- Wing and Rotary Aircraft. MKU's Armour is extremely Light-Weight and durable, guaranteeing mission accomplishment and safeguarding trained aircrew.
MKU offers Certified Solutions following NATO AQAP quality procedures. Their Aircraft Protection Solutions comply with U.S. Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations.

MKU provides End-Users with the highest level of Protection, while retaining full system functionalities of the Helicopter. Technical Teams cooperate with several leading material developers to ensure Special Ballistic Protection capabilities for the offered Armour Solutions.

MKU ensures that both its Armour materials and its attachments comply with MIL 810 G Standards and their teams work closely with customers from the very start to deliver an effective and high quality solution as per the actual need. MKU is among the few companies in the world with extensive experience in Armouring Airborne Systems. It is certified according to AS 9100 C for Design and Development of Armour Solutions for Airborne Platforms.

Keeping the Multi-Role Operations and Survivability of Utility and Assault Helicopters in mind, MKU designs Helicopter Armour Kits using the proprietary 'Modular Schutz Technik' (MoST). Depending upon the Mission requirements, Armour Kits from MKU can be easily and quickly deployed in, or removed from the Aircraft either in part or in full without the requirement of any special tools.

'Modulare Schutz Technik' uses Precision Engineered Composite Armour panels along with patented Aero-grade attachment systems. These kits are simply installed upon the existing structure of the Helicopter without making any Structural changes or tampering with the Aerodynamics of the Helicopter.

Areas Considered for Armour Protection
Pilot Seat Protection

Flying crew seat solutions by MKU provide Pilot & Co-pilot with optimum protection without affecting the operational ability of the machine. Pilot Seat Protection Solutions offer crew with excellent protection against trauma sustained from turbulence and other Ballistic threats.

Floor Protection
MKU's innovative internal aircraft floor equipped with Ballistic Protection capability is easy to install, light-weight and requires minimal maintenance. Anti-Ballistic Flooring Solution can be easily integrated into original hull without necessitating any structural changes in the platform.

Side Protection
In Combat environment Side Protection and Door Protection is equally important as the hull of Aircraft. MKU's 6th-Generation Polyshield V6 Armouring Technology facilitates Helicopters with light-weight and effective Armour Solution, which can be easily and quickly deployed. These Armour Solutions can be installed inside or outside, conforming to the User's requirement.

A Helicopter Pilot is always on the Radar of enemies and insurgents, while conducting operations behind enemy lines in crisis situations. Improved safety features and Situational Awareness tools dedicated to Helicopter Pilots are continuously upgraded to match the pace of fast evolving technology.

MKU understands the threats that pilots encounter while flying in Combat Zone transporting cargo or performing humanitarian and relief operation in enemy territory and have come up with the Heli-Pilot Vest, which offers maximum Ballistic Protection to the Pilots. Heli-Pilot Vests are designed such that they offer privilege of obstruction free movement while flying Aircraft from Combat Zones.

The Heli-Pilot Vest from MKU offers protection as per NIJ, STANAG, PSDB and VPAM Standard, especially from small Arms and Handguns, Ammunition and Fragments. It comes with strengthened stitching with adjusting option at side and shoulder for wearing comfort.

MKU is an Indian Defence company headquartered in Kanpur, India. It has 4 Production Facilities of which 3 are in India and the fourth one in Sittensen, Germany. The company manufactures Protection and Surveillance range of Equipment and Solutions. MKU has spent the last three decades building up a broad product portfolio that includes Ballistic Vests, Ballistic Helmets and other Personal Protection products for Military and Security Forces as well as Platform Armouring Solutions for Land-Air-Sea Platforms.

It has recently set up one of the most modern facilities for the manufacture of Night-Vision Devices and Day Sights. MKU is a registered NATO & UN Supplier, and all its manufacturing facilities are certified to ISO 9001:2008, AS 9100, ISO 14000 Standards and it has also received the much coveted BA 9000 Certification, mandated by NIJ for Body Armour Products.
