Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched Y-3023 Dunagiri, Project 17A Frigate built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata on July 15th, 2022. The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, has been nurturing as well as encouraging Indian Defence & Aerospace Industry to take up Defence Manufacturing. India’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Airbus Defence and Space, Spain for acquisition of 56 C295MW Transport Aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF) on September 24th, 2021. The induction of Airbus C295MW Airlifters will be a significant step towards modernisation of the Transport Fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF). It is a Transport Aircraft of 5-10 tonne capacity with contemporary technology that will replace the ageing Avro Transport Aircraft of IAF.
